Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads them to get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. The holographic circus that Neel’s younger siblings are entertained by is the same one Chewbacca’s family sees in the infamous Star Wars: The Holiday Special (1978).
and what I thought was BAD
He stars in the insane cartoon AniMat: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022). Okay, so as exciting as it is to have new Star Wars content these days, I’m always going to have to give it a chance, and after the first episode of Skeleton Crew, here’s what I thought was good…
Also with Disney’s Star Wars, they’re getting further and further away from their real audience, but
The Good: The look at the ceiling of the spaceship in the opening scene, just like the Rebel Trooper in A New Hope The view of the suburbs from above, which takes me back to Spielberg’s early 80s family films The Raleigh Burner-style padding on Kids Speeder One of the kids playing Charlie Sheen in the police station scene from Ferris Buellers Day Off The General is the boring, normal mess of everyday life in the galaxy The Bad The rest, not an original idea or a quick thought that hasn’t been better executed in a movie like Explorers, E.T., or even Flight of the Navigator, it’s a poorly acted Stranger Things clone, it looks a bit cheap, Star Wars is mostly crowbarred into an 80s kids’ adventure movie. If I were 10 years old again, all of these complaints would be irrelevant and I’d think it was the best thing I’ve seen in years.
And isn’t that the point?
